The plane took 201 American citizens evacuated from Wuhan to redirect to the March air base instead of going to a civil airport in California.

The Boeing 747 has no window with red and yellow stripes along the trunk carrying American citizens leaving Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China originally scheduled to land at Ontario International Airport in California. However, after stopping supplies at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Alaska on the evening of January 28, the aircraft diverted to March Air Force Base in California.

All passengers on the flight were subjected to a body temperature test before the flight took off from Wuhan, then monitored by medical staff during the flight and re-screened again when landing in Anchorage.

Every passenger on the trip has passed a medical examination in Alaska. "Everyone on the plane burst into joy when the crew said, 'Welcome home,'" Alaska health director Anne Zink said.

"Passengers will continue to be monitored by medical personnel during the last leg of the flight and undergo medical checkups when they arrive at March Air Force Base in Riverside County, California. They will continue to monitor the following symptoms. on arrival, "the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) added.

Curt Hagman, chairman of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, California, where Ontario airport is located, said on social media that CDC had announced its decision to divert the flight of 201 Americans to the March air base. "We were getting ready for everyone, but the State Department decided to divert the flight to March air base," Hagman said.

Hagman said San Bernardino County residents voiced concern about the flight landing at Ontario International Airport. "People are very concerned. They want to make sure that the government is protecting them," Hagman said.

US authorities dispatched the plane to evacuate diplomats at the US consulate and many of its citizens are trapped in Wuhan, a Chinese city that is frozen in the pneumonia caused by the nCoV virus. San Bernandino County was originally selected as the destination for these citizens, US officials said.

Pneumonia caused by the nCoV virus strain started in Wuhan and has spread to 16 countries and territories around the world. Like the United States, many countries have been planning to evacuate citizens from China.
