The bridge over the river Tarn, southwestern France, collapsed today causing a car and a truck to fall into the water.

The collapsed bridge connects the towns of Mirepoix-sur-Tarn and Bessieres, in the Haute-Garonne area, about 30 km north of the French city of Toulouse. There is no information about casualties in the accident.

Georges Meric, head of the Haute-Garonne area, said three cars were traveling on the bridge when it collapsed into the Tarn River, but did not say what happened to the third vehicle. More than 60 rescue agency staff were present at the scene.

Meric added that an investigation into the cause of the collapse was underway.
