Syed Mustafa Ahmed should have been on the PK 8303 flight in distress in Pakistan, but was ultimately unable to book due to a system failure.

Syed Mustafa Ahmed on May 21 tried again and again but was unable to pay for a 13-A seat online on a Pakistani International Airlines (PIA) flight from Lahore to Karachi a day later.

Ahmed said he had to go to Karachi on May 22, before the curfew began at 17:00 and the vehicles stopped working.

"I booked seat 13-A but when choosing online payment, the system failed," he said.

Frustrated, Ahmed called a friend working at Serene Airlines to help him solve the problem.

"I asked him to book a ticket. We tried again but still failed," he said.

The flight Ahmed would have been a passenger later crashed into a residential area near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi city on the afternoon of May 22.

Rescuers have found more than 80 bodies and are continuing to search under the rubble.

The cause of the accident is said to be a technical problem.
