Australia Police in Sydney arrested a 21-year-old young man believed to be an IS member planning a terrorist attack.

The unidentified suspect was arrested at his home in Riverwood, a suburb south of Sydney, New South Wales state, southeastern Australia on December 4. Police have accused the 21-year-old of being part of a self-proclaimed Islamic State militant group (IS) and carrying out the first phase of "terrorist acts."

The young man was also charged with posting extremist content online and seeking to spread extremist ideas to the other two teenagers. Police added the suspect had downloaded a document on weapons and tactics used for the terrorist attack.

"It is easy to see that the process of continuous extremist ideology has encouraged political motive violence," said Assistant Police Chief Ian McCartney, adding that the arrest was the result of the investigation. lasted 6 months and the attack has not yet occurred.
