Health Minister Terawan Putrano urged people to calm down and pray in the context of Indonesia recognizing the first two cases of nCoV.

"The most important thing to do now is to pray. The immune system will weaken if we are too scared," Indonesian Health Minister Terawan Putrano said at a press conference in Jakarta today, stressing that Indonesia had prepare for an outbreak of Covid-19.

The statement comes as Indonesia recorded the first two cases of nCoV: a 64-year-old woman and her 31-year-old daughter. Indonesian President Joko Widodo said the patients had been in contact with a Japanese since February 14, who was later tested positive for nCoV upon arrival in Malaysia.

The 31-year-old woman developed Covid-19 symptoms on February 16 and went to the local clinic but was given outpatient treatment. Her mother had similar symptoms after just a few days, when they were hospitalized on February 26 but only had the nCoV test on March 1.

Minister Putrano said in mid-February that Indonesia did not appear with people infected with Covid-19 through prayer, leaving many health experts concerned about Jakarta's response to the disease.

Covid-19 appeared in 71 countries and territories after its inauguration in Wuhan, China in December 2019. The world has more than 88,000 people infected and at least 3,051 people died from the disease.
