Iran introduced a stealthy destroyer model under the Hormuz Project, designed very much like the US coastal combat ship.

The Hormuz Project destroyer model, also known as Mowj-6, was presented at an exhibition held in Tehran in late November. very similar to the Independence class coastal combat ship (LCS).

Like the US LCS, the Iranian stealth battleship also uses a pump-jet system instead of a propeller engine, which can help it reach a top speed of up to 74 km / h, fast. than most conventional warships today.

However, this design also has some differences compared to the American Independence class. The superstructure part is arranged more backward, the helicopter compartment beveled diagonally outward. Onboard sensor systems are most likely developed by Iran themselves.

Despite being referred to by Iran as destroyers, Project Hormuz ships have displacement of about 3,000 tons, equivalent to LCS and half of US Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.

96 vertical launch tubes are mounted at the front and can accommodate short-range air defense missiles. Behind the bridge is a larger launcher, possibly the location of anti-ship missiles developed from China's C-802 (YJ-83) line with the same capability as the U.S.-made Harpoon rocket.

The ship has a 76 mm dual purpose cannon and four close-range defense systems (CIWS) Kamand. It can carry two helicopters, equipped with active phased array radar systems.

The number of weapons on board Project Hormuz is considered to be too much for such a small battleship, leading military experts to believe that Tehran will have to trade many ship features to carry a large number of missiles and weapons. gas.

Iran has designed and built its own submarines and submarines, but has never produced stealth ships like the Hormuz Project.
