The aircraft, PK 8303, took off from Lahore to Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, carrying nearly 100 passengers, crashed and crashed into a residential area near the airport.

Pakistani officials said the two survived the accident, while local television reported three people had died and were sitting in front of the plane.

The Pakistan Red Crescent Association said it has deployed three ambulances and 25 emergency response personnel to the scene to assist with the rescue and search of the bodies of the victims.

Seemi Jamali, a spokesman for Jinnah Hospital, said at least 16 bodies and six injured had been transferred to the hospital.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan said he was "shocked and grief" over the incident and would investigate the accident soon.

The incident occurred a few days after Pakistan allowed commercial flights to resume operations after a suspension period because of Covid-19.

In 2010, Pakistan witnessed the deadliest plane disaster when an Airbus A321, belonging to the private airline Airblue, crashed, killing all 152 people.
