A woman in California was surprised to learn that her son thought he died after being born is still alive and well.

Tina Bejarano gave birth to her second child Kristin 30 years ago, when she was 17 years old. Bejarano's mother says she can only keep her first child Tiffany or Kristin.

When the baby was born, Berajano's mother informed her that the child died 15 minutes after birth. She had never even seen her child.

Months after Kristin died, Berajano met and dated Eric Gardere, her husband now. Every year they celebrate Kristin's birthday. "It was a difficult time every year, she was very depressed," Gardere said.

Last year, Tiffany persuaded her mother to get a DNA test. Soon after, she received an email with the content: "I think we need to talk, the DNA results show that we are related, you are my mother."

Thanks to that Berajano discovered her son is still alive. "I don't care about anything, it's my child. We are very happy because my son is still alive. Every time I look at him he just wants to cry," Berajano said.

Kristin was adopted by a kind family 5 days after birth and raised in Las Vegas, never even knowing her biological mother. He now lives in New Jersey with his wife and newborn baby.

Gardere and Berajano have three children together. Although not a biological father of Kristin, he considered Kristin his son. "We have been in contact with Kristin for a few months. He called me dad, I called him a boy and I texted Kristin every morning," Gardere said.

The whole Kristin family will visit Bejarano and Gardere on November 24.
