Xi said China's Marxist political economy will continue to adapt to the international environment and has always been the foundation of the country.

"The foundation of Chinese political economy can only be Marxist political economy, not based on other economic theories," Chinese President Xi Jinping said in an article published in Qiushi.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Chairman of the Central Military Commission, thinks that the country's economic model is the backbone of the unique Chinese socialist system,

Xi said that after 30 years of reform and opening up, the changing global order, shaping the future economy will be a big challenge for the ruling party in the country.

According to Xi, China must support and develop its publicly owned economy, while also supporting other types of ownership.

The comment was made by the Chinese President when the country is in a fierce confrontation with the US on a wide range of issues from trade, technology to ideology, human rights and Covid-19 origin.

In his Qiushi article, Xi said that China should not seek to copy Western ideology or its capitalist system.

Trade has been one of the main conflict issues between China and the US, with the battle on the field stretching back to July 2018.

Under the terms of the provisional trade agreement signed on January 15, high-level discussions between the two sides should be held every half year.
