Police chief Martin Pasmore wants the Vietnamese community in the UK to provide information to help identify victims of container cars.

"Maybe many people watching the news tonight think 'I am in the UK illegally, I want to help identify loved ones and be reunited with them', but they are afraid to report to the authorities. ", Pasmore, Essex County Police Chief Inspector, spoke during a press conference at the Grays town police station in the afternoon of October 26.

Pasmore said he met a "facilitator" of a website about the Vietnamese community in the UK to help build trust among people who could support the investigation and police. He expressed hope that this would encourage people to "overcome the guilt of trust" to contact the Essex police.

"If you come here, we will do everything to welcome you, help you through this process, identify as quickly as possible to see if any of your acquaintances in this tragedy", Pasmore asserted.

The chief police inspector confirmed he met the Vietnamese Ambassador in the UK this morning in an effort to reach out to the Vietnamese community in the country. "Although we cannot make speculations about the nationality of the victims at the moment, it is clear that we are interacting with many Vietnamese, both domestic and foreign," he said.

He also acknowledged that asking the Vietnamese community in the UK to help identify victims could be a "complex situation".

Pasmore added that all 39 victims were taken out of a container truck to Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford for an autopsy and the Essex County police are continuing to investigate the tragedy. Investigators are still open to all theories, he said.

Thirty-one men and eight women were found dead in a frozen container in the Waterglade industrial zone, Grays town, on October 23. Police arrested driver Mo Robinson and three others on charges of manslaughter and involvement in human trafficking.

The Vietnamese diplomatic agency is working closely with the British authorities, sharing information during the investigation to identify the victims. The embassy has also established a channel to exchange information and coordinate directly with Essex County police, which is leading the investigation of the case and conducting autopsies.
