Mr. Hai benefactors put money packages worth tens of thousands of dollars on the sidewalks of the Blackhall Colliery village to give to the needy.

Since 2014, at least 12 cash packages have been found in Blackhall Colliery Village, Durham County, northeastern England, each containing usually £ 20 bills, equivalent to $ 2,600. These packages of money are always placed on the sidewalk in a prominent position.

Durham County police yesterday said they had identified the "mysterious person" who had carried out the action in reality as two benefactors. They deliberately put money in places where people who need it, including pensioners, can find it.

After the police discovered their identities, the two benefactors asked to remain anonymous and said that because they had received unexpected fortunes, they wanted to share a part with everyone. One of them revealed that she was touched after being helped by a villager and wanted to "repay the kindness" of this person.

In the past 6 years, the residents of Blackhall Colliery have collected a total of 26,000 pounds ($ 33,700) and handed it to the police. However, all money packages were returned to the people who found them.

John Forster, Sheriff Durham, said that he was happy that the mystery of the past five years had been unraveled.

"I'm glad we can definitely exclude the possibility that the money is related to a criminal or someone vulnerable," he said. "I want to thank the sponsors for getting in touch and also for the honest people of Blackhall for handing over the money."
