A woman carrying vegetables and pork in an LV bag made Chongqing police suspicious and discovered that her daughter specializes in selling fake bags.

Chongqing City Police were patrolling a market last month when the woman, who was well dressed, carried a Louis Vuitton (LV) bag containing pork and vegetables. They immediately suspected the lady was involved in the investigation, in which a woman surnamed Qi in Gansu Province, more than 1,000 km away, accused an online salesman of Chongqing.

Ms. Qi spent 7,000 yuan (nearly $ 1,000) to buy a Chanel bag that the seller assured was genuine. However, she later discovered the quality of the bag was very bad and sent it to Chanel store in Shanghai for verification, the staff here said they had bought fake goods.

When Ms. Qi asked for a refund, the clerk only agreed to return 4,000 yuan, so she alerted the police. The victim only knew the name of the store but it no longer exists. Police said the bag seller had used fake addresses and various addresses in previous transactions. They also discovered surveillance cameras that showed a man, it turned out, was the father of the online shopkeeper, taking a bag from one of the addresses.

After tracking the woman carrying LV bags to the market, they discovered that her daughter was a fraud suspect. When the police raided her home, they found four rooms containing more than 400 branded handbags and many anti-counterfeiting stamps.

Suspect Wang, 27, is being detained by police. Last year, she was also sentenced to a suspended prison sentence for fraud and is also said to be contesting to become an expert on luxury products.

The police did not say if they were prosecuting the girl's parents.
