South Korea: An application service offered by the South Korean government helps people identify which stores have masks to buy.

South Koreans can use the app to check the remaining masks at drug stores or government-supplied stores, officials said today. Data on the mask store will be released from tonight.

The move comes amid worries and frustrations of people due to the lack of masks amid the outbreak of Covid-19. On March 9, the government began controlling the distribution of the item, allowing only one buyer to buy up to two masks each week on certain days of the week, based on the last digit of the year of birth.

The scarcity of masks also leads to illegal acts. Seoul police today said officials are investigating a total of 111 scams related to this item. Two people were arrested for selling illegal masks online.

"The government will do everything it can to minimize people's inconvenience such as quickly increasing the supply of masks. I also recommend that people regularly check and follow the guidelines recommended by officials for until there is sufficient supply, "said South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

"For many people, buying just two masks a week is not enough. However, this is an inevitable measure in the context of supply unable to keep up with demand, due to the rapid spread of disease." Mr. Moon explained.

The president added that quarantine points, or areas of serious situation such as Daegu and North Gyeongsang, should be given priority, making distribution more difficult. "Therefore, I ask everyone to understand and cooperate, accept concessions and consider a bit," he said.

South Korea today recorded an additional 131 cases of nCoV, the lowest increase in the past two weeks. The current number of infections is more than 7,500, of which more than 50 die. Experts say that Covid-19 has passed the epidemic peak in this country.
