Buckingham Palace will revisit Meghan's Duchess of Sussex because only divorced women who are royal members carry the title.

After losing the royal title as prince and princess, Harry and Meghan and his wife are now only Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Buckingham Palace said yesterday it would "confirm the order" of Harry and Meghan's title because of a "controversial comma".

Harry and Meghan were not the first to lose royal status. After divorcing Prince Charles, Princess Diana became Diana, Princess of Wales. Similarly, after divorcing Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson became Sarah, Duchess of York.

Commentator Alastair Bruce points out that the current title of Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is based on exactly this pattern. "The title of Duchess accidentally delivered all the wrong messages because by convention, this title was proposed through divorce," Bruce said.

Buckingham Palace will consider whether to change the title. However, there is also the opinion that there is no need to change Meghan's title because Harry also bears this title.

Harry, 35, married Meghan in May 2018 and welcomed his first son Archie in May last year. The couple once talked about the difficulties of royal life and media scrutiny. The Prince said he feared that Meghan would fall victim to the "forces" that led to the death of her mother, Princess Diana.

Harry reunited with his wife and children on Vancouver Island, Canada yesterday after leaving the United Kingdom. It is not clear when he will return to England. A few hours after Harry and his wife and children reunited, the couple's lawyer team published a strongly condemning letter of people "hiding in the bushes and stalking" to photograph Meghan and her son Archie.
