Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau clarified the context of the conversation between him and NATO leaders about Trump at the reception on December 3.

"Last night I mentioned the fact that there was an unplanned press conference that took place before my meeting with President Trump. I'm glad to be part of that press conference, but that's obviously what worthy of attention, "Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at a news conference on 4 December, after being accused of" double-sided "by Trump because of the other NATO leaders' comments behind him.

At a reception on the sidelines of a NATO summit at Buckingham Palace on December 3, the leaders of Britain, Canada, France and the Netherlands were recorded by cameras that were said to be mocking President Trump for too much press conference.

The 25-second video released by CBC began with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson asking French President Emmanuel Macron about his late arrival. "Is that why you're late," Johnson asked. While Macron nodded, Trudeau said: "He was late because he had to attend a 40-minute press conference."

Trudeau and the other leaders did not mention Trump's name directly in the conversation and did not seem to realize that they were filmed, even though they spoke quite loudly.

"You can see his team gasping," Trudeau said in the video. During a press conference on December 4, the Canadian Prime Minister explained that he was referring to Trump's statement about hosting the next G7 conference at Camp David.

"Each leader has his own team, who always open their mouths due to unforeseen surprises, such as that video," the Canadian Prime Minister added.

Trudeau said he was not interested in whether his comments on Trump could affect US-Canada relations. However, the White House boss reacted angrily to the Canadian leader on December 4, suggesting Trudeau mocked himself because he complained that Canada's defense spending has not reached its NATO target of 2% of GDP. .

A spokesman for French President Macron said they did not comment on the issue, saying "this video does not say anything special". Meanwhile, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte's spokesman refused to answer questions regarding the closed sessions. British Prime Minister Johnson also said it was "unreasonable" to say that the video showed he did not respect Trump.

On December 3, Trump spent 52 minutes answering a reporter's question during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, about 40 minutes in a meeting with Macron, and about 30 minutes in a meeting with Trudeau afterwards.

Trump plans to resume a press conference on December 4, after 29 NATO leaders met in secret for three hours and issued a joint statement. However, after the end of the bilateral meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Trump canceled the press conference and boarded the plane to return to Washington.
