The C-130 plane that crashed while flying to Antarctica had a safety threat in the same route in 2016, according to the Chilean air force.

"Transport of emergency landing aircraft in the city of Punta Arenas in the video in April 2016 is the one that was dropped on the way to Antarctica," the Chilean air force released a statement yesterday. "The crew found that the main landing gear on the left did not lower normally when it was about to land on the Antarctic base. The pilot decided to turn back to Punta Arenas and use the more urgent release plan. The plane landed safely. after that, "the statement read.

The Chilean military insisted the plane was properly maintained before the accident, but would investigate a passenger's message to a family member, stating that the C-130 had a problem with the electrical system.
