After the members of the cabinet isolated themselves, Duterte, 74, was advised by the Philippine health authorities to get tested to ensure he was healthy and able to continue to interact with the people, Mr. Go said. Yesterday's test results showed that both Duterte and Go were negative for nCoV. "We are still healthy to carry out our duties," Go wrote on Facebook.

However, Senator Go asserted that both the President and him will continue to take precautions to avoid nCoV infection.

The Philippines yesterday recorded 12 new cases, bringing the total number of people infected with nCoV to 64. Health officials also confirmed that at least 6 people died from Covid-19 in the country.

Despite the relatively low number of cases and deaths in the Philippines, President Duterte's administration has taken drastic measures to prevent Covid-19 from breaking out. On March 12, Mr. Duterte announced the suspension of air, sea and road travel to and from Manila, while also taking measures to isolate other communities.
