The US House of Representatives voted through the Trump impeachment investigation today, with 232 votes in favor and 196 votes against.

In the first official measure of party unity in the Trump impeachment investigation, Democrats, now in control of the House, voted in unanimity, except for two congressmen. However, Democrats received no votes from the Republican congressman.

With 232 votes in favor of 196 against, the US House of Representatives officially opened a new and open phase in the Trump investigation, involving his July phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump is said to have urged Zelensky to investigate Joe Biden, the top Democratic candidate in the race to the White House in 2020, for personal political purposes.

"Today, the House of Representatives has taken the next step when we set up the procedure to open hearings conducted by the House Intelligence Committee to let the public see the truth. Everything is at stake. nothing other than our democracy, "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said just before the vote.

However, the vote also provides an opportunity for Trump's lawyer to cross-examine witnesses. The Republican party previously said that the Democratic Party's impeachment investigation was invalid because not all congressmen agreed.

Shortly after the vote in the House of Representatives, Trump tweeted, calling impeachment the "largest witch hunt" in American history. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham accused the Democrats of being "obsessed with illegal impeachment". "Democrats are choosing to waste time each day on a fake impeachment, a flagrant partisan effort to destroy the President," Grisham said.

Trump's presidential campaign warns Democrats will face consequences at the ballot box for their impeachment efforts against the President. "Voters will punish Democrats who support this farce and President Trump will easily be re-elected," said Brad Parscale, Trump's campaign manager.

If the House of Representatives finally passes Trump impeachment, a Senate hearing will be triggered. However, Trump will only be deposed if two-thirds of the senators vote against him - something that is unlikely because the Republicans are controlling the Senate.

The US Constitution gives the House of Representatives multiple powers to set rules for impeachment investigations, and Democrats say they will follow investigative rules, such as holding public hearings.

The MPs who led the investigation had a private hearing by Tim Morrison, Russia's leading expert on Trump's National Security Council. Morrison resigned yesterday.

They are also scheduled to hear former national security adviser John Bolton next week. Those who testified before Bolton himself were also surprised by the pressure of the White House on the President of Ukraine. However, Bolton's lawyer said he was not willing to go to the hearing, unless required by a subpoena.
