Vice President Pence signaled to support an attempt to 'flip' the election after 11 Republican senators vowed to do so on Jan. 6.

Marc Short, Mike Pence's chief of staff, issued a statement on the evening of Jan. 2, saying that the US Vice President "shared the concerns of millions of Americans about fraud and irregularities in the latest election".

The statement said the Vice President "welcomes the efforts of House and Senate members to use their authority under the law to raise opposition and present evidence before Congress and the American people.

Pence's message came after a lawsuit from Republican MPs seeking to give the Vice President the right to decide the electoral votes, thereby overturning the election results on January 6, was rejected.

Pence sent a letter on December 31 to Judge Kernodle, saying he was not the right person for the defendant's position in the Republican congress' s petition.

Previously, the Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley also vowed to oppose the recognition of the election results on the grounds that some states did not comply with their own election laws.

Nebraska Republican Senator on December 31 condemned the "overturn" attempts that President Donald Trump and his allies were pursuing, calling it a "dangerous conspiracy" to "disqualify.

Minnesota Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar said that the Republican election campaign will eventually fail but it is extremely dangerous because it is "an attempt to overthrow the will of voters.
