Chongqing Deputy Mayor and Police Director Dang Khoi Lam was investigated for "serious disciplinary violations".

The China Central Discipline Inspection Commission today announced that Dang Khoi Lam, 55, was under investigation but did not release details.

Chongqing, a city in southwest China with 30 million people, has been President Xi Jinping's anti-corruption campaign since the start of his 2012 term.

Ha Dinh, former deputy mayor and director of Chongqing police, Dang Khoi Lam's predecessor, was also dismissed in June 2017 on charges of corruption.

Deng Xiaoping served as deputy police director of Hubei province before moving to the China Central Political and Legal Committee in 2015. In August 2017, he took the position of director of Chongqing City Public Security and in October.

Wang Lijun, director of Chongqing police before Ha Dinh, was also sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2012 for his involvement in the corruption scandal of former Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai.
