Despite only working in the porn industry for two and a half weeks, Linda Lovelace is still known as the most famous "adult star" in the United States.

During those two and a half weeks, Lovelace filmed one of the most notable films of "the golden era of pornography" in the 1970s in the United States. However, the truth behind the movie surprised the public.

Linda Lovelace, whose real name is Linda Boreman, was born in 1949 in the Bronx district in New York City, USA. Her father was a police officer and her mother worked as a waitress. Lovelace had an unhappy childhood when her parents often went away or mistreated her.

They were also extremely religious, so took their children to Catholic schools with strict discipline. Friends also nicknamed Lovelace a "devout lady" because she never allowed the opposite sex to come near. The Lovelace family moved to Florida when she was in high school, but by the age of 20, she returned to New York to attend a computer school.

In 1969, Lovelace's life continued to change when she went to live with her parents in Florida to recover from a car accident that caused her liver and jaw fractures. The turning point occurred when she accidently knew Chuck Traynor. The 27-year-old bar owner approached Lovelace, then 21, and "solicited" to take her for a walk in his car.

After only a few weeks, Lovelace decided to live with Traynor. However, soon after moving in, she was shocked to realize the true nature of this man. He "appears to be" a possessor and rough, completely opposed to her shy personality.

According to Lovelace, Traynor said that she would teach her more about sex and use hypnosis to "explore the knowledge". Over the next few months, Traynor's "old man" turned her into a prostitute. The couple also regularly use ice and marijuana. Lovelace began playing some illegal short porn scenes after moving with Traynor to live in Miami.

People who have worked with Lovelace in the porn industry say she enjoys sex and is comfortable with prostitution. However, Lovelace claimed this information was inaccurate, which she was forced to practice by Traynor. She added that her marriage to Traynor in 1971 was also forcing her to testify against him on allegations of drug use.

Shortly after their marriage, Lovelace and Traynor met porn director Gerard Damiano at a wild party. Damiano has produced some light-weight films, but after meeting Lovelace, he was so impressed that he decided to write a script for her. The stage name "Lovelace" was also coined.

This was the beginning of her "life" film, one of the first pornographic films to feature a storyline and character lines. Damiano raised about $ 23,000 from gangs to produce the film and paid Lovelace $ 1,200. With scenes mainly in cheap motels in Florida, no one could imagine the charm of the movie.

The film was released in 1972, 62 minutes long and attracted millions of viewers, becoming the famous porn film and the most profitable in history, helping Lovelace "flashed". It is unclear how much money this film has made over the years, but some people estimate it could reach $ 600 million.

In some ways, Lovelace's film is also said to make Americans less harsh with heavy porn. It is even discussed on national television and appears in popular magazines. Playboy founder Hugh Hefner praised Lovelace as the "new porn goddess" of the 1970s, while many celebrities admitted to watching the film.

In late 1973, the late Richard Nixon administration decided to prosecute the film's production team for obscenity and try to ban the film, but many Hollywood stars and freedom of speech activists defended it, argued that the constitution provided for the American people the right to watch pornography. Legal troubles even made the film more famous and "polished name" for Lovelace.

However, her reputation did not last long. After a failed attempt to garner attention and enter the mainstream, Lovelace was arrested in Las Vegas in January 1974 for owning cocaine. Around the same time, her popularity helped Lovelace escape an abusive relationship with Traynor and divorce. Later, she remarried to a construction contractor named Larry Marchiano and had two children.

In 1980, after a long period of seclusion, Lovelace released an autobiography called "Ordeal", revealing behind-the-scenes stories that were the complete opposite of the film's halo. The public was amazed to see that she was not a lecherous porn star, but a picture of a young girl trapped and feared in the book.

Lovelace claimed she was completely controlled and manipulated by Traynor. He beat her incessantly to force prostitution, even threatening to kill if she did not comply. Traynor admitted to beating Lovelace, but argued that this was part of a "voluntary sex game".

The former porn star also said that the film that made her name actually filmed the scene of her being raped. When asked why she smiled despite being abused, Lovelace replied that if she refused to smile, she could be killed.

"Traynor never let me out of sight. He supervised through a keyhole when I was in the bathroom, pointing a gun to my head when I called," Lovelace recounted the marriage she felt like I am the "prisoner" in the autobiography.

Lovelace later regained her birth name as Linda Boreman and became an activist for women. "She became an active champion of the anti-pornist movement led by leading feminists, especially Gloria Steinem," said Darwin Porter, author of a book on Lovelace.

However, the public's view of Lovelace once again changed in the 1990s, when she was caught up in pornographic events and signed on a copy of the hit film. She divorced Marchiano in 1996 after he lost his job and was supposed to accept events because of financial difficulties. Porter added that Lovelace broke with feminists because she felt abused.

On April 3, 2002, she had another car accident, but this time did not pass and died at the age of 53. Traynor, her ex-husband, a few months later also died in a heart attack.

"Lovelace has triggered a billion-dollar industry and became the queen of all, a queen that people can hardly imagine. However, history sometimes calls out the names of unusual people," the author said. Porter said.
