Another 94 deaths from corona virus, an increase of 9.2% compared to yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,112 and the number of cases to 44,789.

The Hubei Provincial Health Commission today announced that it had 94 more deaths from the new strain of corona virus (Covid-19), 9 fewer cases than yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths in Hubei. 1,068.

Hubei found an additional 1,638 positive cases, bringing the total number of local cases to 33,366. The number of new infections is 459 fewer cases than the previous day.

The National Health Commission then announced that the number of new deaths across mainland China was 94; 1,673 new infections, 805 fewer than the day before. Mainland China currently has 1110 deaths, 44,311 cases and 4,475 people cured.

Worldwide, 1,112 people died from the epidemic, of which two cases were recorded outside of mainland China: a Wuhan man in the Philippines and a man in Hong Kong. 44,789 people were infected, 7,345 people were in critical condition and 4,529 people were cured.

Pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan, spread to 31 provinces in China and 26 countries and territories. WHO yesterday announced the name of the epidemic Covid-19, explaining that "co" stands for corona, "vi" is the virus and "d" is the disease. WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the name was chosen because it "does not relate to geography, animal species, individual or group of people, and is easy to pronounce and relate to the disease."
