The number of coronary virus deaths in Hubei increased by 242 cases, more than doubling yesterday, the number of infections increased by 14,840, nearly 10 times the previous day, after the province changed its statistical ways.

The Hubei Provincial Health Commission today recorded an additional 242 deaths from corona pneumonia (Covid-19), more than twice as much as yesterday, bringing the total number of deaths in Hubei to 1,310. The agency today released the data about one hour later than usual.

Hubei said it had changed its method of calculating the number of cases since February 13. The province detected 14,840 more positive cases of new corona virus (nCoV), bringing the total number of local cases to 48,206. The number of new infections is nearly 10 times larger than the day before.

According to the Hubei Provincial Health Commission, their new calculation method will include clinically diagnosed cases of viral infections into the new case data. Accordingly, in 14,840 new infections, 13,332 were clinically diagnosed, meaning that patients were diagnosed based on symptoms consistent with Covid-19 but not necessarily with laboratory test results. .

Hubei did not make statistics in this way before. The provincial health committee said the changes were made to align with reports from other provinces across China.

The number of new deaths across mainland China is 250; 14,985 new infections. Mainland China currently records 1,363 deaths, 59,638 infections and 5,694 people cured

Worldwide, 1,365 people died from the epidemic, of which two cases were recorded outside of mainland China: a Wuhan man in the Philippines and a man in Hong Kong. 60,161 people were infected, 8,243 people were in critical condition and 5,756 people were cured.
