An additional 4,869 Covid-19 deaths were reported, bringing the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 1,163,588, while 32,123,941 recovered.

The US, the world's largest epidemic zone, recorded 8,957,018 cases and 230,986 deaths, an increase of 69,404 and 494 cases compared to a day earlier.

The National Health Authority said on October 25 that 17% of people tested for nCoV gave a positive result, up from 4.5% in early September.

President Emmanuel Macron issued a curfew in Paris and eight other major cities for six weeks, starting October 17.

South Africa, the world's 12th largest epidemic region and the country most affected by the pandemic in Africa, recorded 716,759 cases and 19,008 deaths, up 891 and 40 cases, respectively.

The South African government decided to open borders with most countries from October 1, while gradually loosening the world's top strict restrictions, in an effort to revive the economy.

Iran, the Middle East's largest epidemic zone, reported 32,953 deaths, an increase of 337, out of a total of 574,856 cases, an increase of 5,960.

Iran is planning to impose new one-month restrictions, including for odd-day civil servants in the capital, Tehran, and to set different working hours for occupations to reduce crowding.

China recorded 20 new infections, bringing the number of cases to 85,810, of which 4,634 people died.

China on October 25 found more than 100 cases of nCoV infection in Kashgar City, Xinjiang, and all were asymptomatic.

In Southeast Asia, Indonesia is the region's largest epidemic with 392,934 cases, an increase of 3,222 from the previous day, of which 13,411 people died, an increase of 112 cases.

Jakarta started to impose restrictions to prevent nCoV in early April and then loosen it up gradually in June. However, the number of new infections in the capital a few weeks later skyrocketed.

The Philippines reported 371,630 cases and 7,039 deaths, up 1,607 and 62 cases, respectively.

Most businesses have been reopened since the end of the blockade on August 19 in Manila.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom admitted on October 26 that after months of global battle with Covid-19, the level of "pandemic fatigue" had begun.
