Trump activated the National Defense Production Law to speed up production of equipment needed for the fight against Covid-19.

Trump on March 18 announced at a White House press conference that he was about to sign a Defense Production Law, introduced in the 1950s Korean War, allowing the President to ask the US industry to increase production. Export important equipment and supplies such as ventilators, masks and protective gear for health workers.

Two military hospital ships USNS Comfort and USNS Mercy are transferred to New York and one location on the West Bank. Comfort is basically a floating hospital with 1,000 patient beds, including 80 beds in the intensive care unit.
