Trump considered attending a parade to celebrate Russia's 2020 Victory Day in Moscow after Putin sent an invitation.

"President Putin invited me," Trump told reporters at the White House on November 8. "This is a huge event, celebrating the end of the war. I appreciate this invitation."

Trump said the factor that made him hesitant to accept the invitation was that the parade was at a critical moment in the election. "I will see if I can go. I would love to go if I can," he said.

Putin invited Trump to Moscow to attend the parade on May 9, 2020 during the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Japan on June 28. On November 7, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Putin's invitation "received interest", but there were no answers from the White House.

Relations between the United States and Russia remain tense due to disagreements over Syria and Ukraine and accused Russia of interfering in the US presidential election in 2016. After a summit in Finland last year, Trump received much criticism in because of its "too reconciling" attitude to the Russian President.

Russia annually holds a large-scale parade on Red Square to commemorate the day of defeating the fascists. This year's Victory Parade was attended by more than 13,000 soldiers and 206 motor vehicles and aircraft.
