Scalise has been a congressman in the US Congress since 2008, representing Louisiana's No. 1 parliament area. After the 2017 attack, he suffered multiple injuries, multiple fractures and internal injuries. But just a few months later, Scalise returned to work in parliament with a crutch.

Congressman Scalise took months of hospital treatment to recover and continue his work. The shooter was shot down in the face of the police. Shortly after the shooting, the New York Times reported that Trump and First Lady Melania had visited Mr. Scalise at the hospital.
