Trump mentioned that Time magazine chose child environmental activist Greta Thunberg as the "Person of the Year" 2019 over him.

During a press conference at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on January 22, when asked by reporters about Thunberg's criticism, Trump asked "how old is she?".

After the reporter said the 17-year-old Swedish activist, he replied, "Oh, that's good. She beat me in Time magazine."

Earlier, at the same event in Davos, Thunberg criticized Trump's indifference about climate issues. "Unlike you, my generation will not give up without fighting. Our house is on fire. Your indifference is strengthening the fire."

Time began voting for the "Person of the Year" title in 1927 and child environmental activist Greta Thunberg was the youngest person to be honored in the magazine's history. Titles are given to individuals or groups of people who have a great influence on the world and the media, be it in a positive or a negative way. Trump is also on the 2019 nomination list.

The US president has an unhappy relationship with Thunberg. In September, she was spotted looking at Trump with angry eyes when attending a UN climate conference. Trump later described Thunberg as "a young girl heading towards a bright and wonderful future". Thunberg did not respond directly but changed his description on his Twitter account following Trump's sarcasm.

Trump and Thunber didn't see each other even though they attended the Davos event this week. Before leaving Davos, Trump said he "would be happy to meet her". He added that Thunberg should pay attention to other countries instead of the US, where he described it as "clean, beautiful".

"We have a beautiful ocean called the Pacific Ocean, where thousands of tons of garbage flows towards us. Other countries have dumped them. So Greta needs to pay attention to this issue," he said. .
