The Pentagon said about 1,100 members of the District of Columbia National Guard were mobilized to assist law enforcement at the Capitol.

President-elect Biden called this a "rebellion" and demanded that Trump immediately go to national television to urge his supporters to stop besieging the Capitol.

"The chaos at the Capitol did not reflect a real America," he added.

During the rally outside the White House a few hours ago, President Trump highlighted the "stolen" protest, declared "never lose" and urged supporters to march to the Capitol.

Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser ordered a curfew across the city from 6pm on January 6 (6am, 7/1 Hanoi time) to 6am the next morning.
