"This is the first time Trump has topped this list, but it is Obama's 12th," said Gallup, a US-based consulting and analysis firm based in Washington D.C. "Quite a few Democratic supporters chose Trump and relatively few Republican supporters chose Obama, while independent people voted equally for both."

Gallup also noted that in the 58/72 polls they have conducted, incumbent presidents are often chosen by Americans as the most admired men.

In the "Most Admired Woman" category, former US first lady Michelle Obama reached 10%, Melania gained 5%, followed by Hillary Clinton and Greta Thunberg, each with 3%.

In two polls "The most admired man" in the United States in 2017 and 2018, Trump was second to Obama. This changes this year as more people appreciate Trump's accomplishments as President of the United States.
