In the letter, the Palm Beach county government said the resort did not comply with the local regulations to wear a mask that prevented Covid-19 from holding the New Year's Eve party two weeks ago.

Warning letter was sent after Donald Trump Jr, the eldest son of President Trump, posted a video of a New Year's party in Mar-a-Lago, which had about 500 guests but only a few people wore masks and stood

Palm Beach County official Todd Bonlarron in the letter said the Mar-a-Lago resort may have given out masks to guests, "but failure to comply with the mandatory request to wear them has left almost no one in compliance.

Bonlarron added that he welcomed Lembcke's manager who had pledged Mar-a-Lago to comply with future epidemic prevention regulations.

Democratic Rep. Omari Hardy, who filed a Mar-a-Lago resort complaint with the Palm Beach county government, argued that local authorities would not fine and suspend President Trump's resort.

Hardy added the decision would make businesses in Palm Beach think they could break the masking rule unharmed, as long as they have "good relationships".

Palm Beach County, with a population of about 1.5 million, is severely affected by Covid-19 with more than 90,000 infections and nearly 2,000 deaths from nCoV.
