The chairman of the Lower Schiff Intelligence Committee said Trump's serious postponement of military aid to Ukraine far exceeded the Nixon scandal in 1972.

"What we see is much more serious than the break into the Democratic Party headquarters. We are talking about not recognizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his White House meeting and postponing military aid to allies. There is a war. This is far beyond what Nixon did, "House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said yesterday after a hearing in the impeachment investigation of US President Donald Trump.

The witness was given a five-day public hearing by witnesses regarding alleged Trump urging his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate a political opponent.

"The whole world is looking at us, they are increasingly unaware of what they are witnessing. This is a bad thing for the United States and the whole world. In my view, nothing is worse than a president who lacks ethics can stand above the law, "Senator Schiff added.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on November 15, also compared Trump to Nixon, confirming that the evidence in the hearings made former President Nixon's crimes "look very small".

In May 1974, the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee began impeaching President Richard M. Nixon after the Watergate case. The scandal was uncovered when five people broke into the Democratic Party's national headquarters at the Watergate Hotel on June 17, 1972.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified Nixon's close aides and electoral campaign committee to organize the raid against Democrats. The scandal caused Nixon to resign to avoid impeachment.

The Democratic-majority US House of Representatives announced an impeachment investigation into Trump in late September, after a "whistleblower" accused the White House boss of urging his Ukrainian counterpart to investigate the former vice president. Biden in a call on July 25. Biden is one of the leading candidates for the Democratic Party, Trump's rival in the race to the White House in 2020.
