Ukrainian authorities open a criminal investigation of attempts to interfere in the US presidential election to affect bilateral relations.

Andriy Yermak, head of the presidential office of Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said today that Ukraine will do everything in its power to "bring to justice the domestic and foreign powers that have sought to destroy relations between Kiev and Washington.

"The State Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal investigation. The investigation is underway and we are waiting for the results. The investigation has to answer a lot of questions," said Yermak.

The US in January imposed sanctions on certain Ukrainian individuals and entities, accusing them of interfering in the US election and affiliated with a pro-Russian Ukrainian congressman over efforts by former allies.

Those blacklisted include Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky, from President Zelenskiy's Peoples' Services party.
