WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus met Chinese officials to collect information and discuss control measures.

"I'm on my way to Beijing to meet Chinese government officials and health professionals dealing with corona virus," Ghebreyesus wrote on Twitter on January 26. "I and my colleagues at the World Health Organization (WHO) want to understand the latest developments and strengthen our partnership with China to curb the epidemic better."

"We are working 24/7 to support China and its people during this difficult time and stay in close contact with the affected countries," Ghebreyesus added. "WHO is updating information for all countries about the situation and providing specific guidance on what to do to respond."

WHO has not yet considered the pneumonia pandemic a global emergency, although cases have emerged in the United States, France, Canada, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Singapore, Nepal and Australia. Cambodia is the latest country to detect an infection. Wuhan, where the outbreak began last December, said 5 million people had left before the city was frozen on Jan. 23.

Officials in Beijing try to reassure the world that China is taking adequate measures to stop the virus and emphasize the situation under control. The Ministry of Finance and China's National Health Commission today announced they allocate 8.74 billion dollars to cope with the epidemic.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said a team of experts from WHO had come to Wuhan to inspect and they praised Chinese measures. He also held a special meeting last weekend to remind all officials to treat the translation "as a political mission of utmost importance".

However, Mayor Wuhan today acknowledged that the treatment of pneumonia was not good, the announcement of disease information has not made the public satisfied and ready to resign to soothe public opinion.
