Doctors and military nurses have come to the Lei Than Son Hospital to be ready to welcome the first patients infected with the new strain of corona virus (nCoV) causing pneumonia to treat. This is the second field hospital constructed by Wuhan city in a record short time to cope with the current outbreak of pneumonia.

Wuhan handed over Fire God Hospital with 1,000 sick-beds to military forces on February 2. These two field hospitals were built in the same manner as the base for the treatment of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Xiaoyunshan, Beijing in 2003.

Epidemic pneumonia caused by nCoV broke out in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province since December 2019, then spread to all 31 provinces in China and many other countries in the world. To date, more than 34,000 people have been infected with nCoV in the world, at least 724 people have died.

Wuhan government said the city has 8,895 beds in 28 public hospitals and about 2,500 beds in two field hospitals to care for patients with severe and critical nCoV infection. The city has also converted three public facilities into treatment areas for people with mild symptoms of nCoV with 4,250 beds and is expected to increase to 5,400 beds.

A source close to the Chinese military force said the military medical team would operate field hospitals "to the highest standards". Chinese media reported that some doctors and experts with anti-SARS and Ebola experience are working at the Fire Spirit Hospital.

On the same day, an inspection team from the National Supervisory Commission of China went to Wuhan to investigate issues related to the death of Li Wen Liang, an ophthalmologist who died on the morning of February 7 from nCoV infection. Doctor Ly Van Luong was one of the first people to warn about the new strain of corona virus from December 2019 but was summoned and reprimanded by the police for "spreading rumors".
