The announcement was launched after a two-day meeting in Shanghai, marking the first Chinese visit to the President Joe Biden administration, providing the hope of cooperation between the two powers in turning response

The two sides mention a series of cooperation areas in multilateral mechanisms, including the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 26).

President Biden considers climate as a top priority in the agenda, in contrast to predecessor Donald Trump.
