The visit of President Biden's wife took place a week after the suicide bombing on August 26 outside Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan, causing 20 American soldiers to be injured and 13 soldiers were killed,

15 US Marine soldiers were injured in the attack on being treated at Walter Reed Hospital.

The injured soldiers were originally transferred from Kabul to Germany with a plane and treatment at the Landstuhl regional medical center, the largest Military Hospital of the United States abroad, before being taken to the country for further care

Colonel Andrew Landers, commanding Landstuhl Military Medical Hospital, said most of the war invalids were hit or fractured, typical injuries in a suicide bombing.

President Biden on August 29 to the Dover Air Force Base, Delaware, to welcome 13 US soldiers killed in the bombing.

Biden was also criticized for watching the watch during the 13 soldiers at the Dover base, many people said that the US President did not respect the ceremony.
