For a year, Michelle Pepe must face a sense of guilt after her father died because of Covid-19, because he was a virus transmitter.

In March 2020, when Covid-19 broke out in the US, Pepe moved from Massachusetts Boston to State Florida to attend his mother's 80-year-old party.

This situation is similar to the pain of many people between the pandemic.

Michelle Pepe stood in front of his father's office at Bernie & Phyl's Furniture Company in Norton, Massachusetts, USA, on April 13.

On the night before his death anniversary, Pepe's hand trembled as she held his parents, Bernie and Phyllis Rubin.

After a happy life party, Pepe stayed in Florida to take care of her parents when the pandemic raged.

"I shouldn't have given up and call an emergency car. It is too obsessive when I think about the scene to be alone. I know he was very scared," Pepe said.

Bernie's funeral is just a rapid burial, ensuring social ways.

"I sink into real suffering for a long time. After that, my daughter said: 'Mother, we think I lost him, without realizing my mother'. So

Pepe decided to participate in online support groups where she met the common people, and went to the help of a Jewish missionarily, who instructed her to read the stature to the deceased.

After waking up on April 13, Pepe prayed and lit a memorial candle, marking a five death day of his father.

Pepe put yellow flowers on Bernie's grave.

After leaving the cemetery, Pepe visited the headquarters of Bernie & Phyl's Furniture Company that her parents founded in 1983. She looked at the wall hanging hundreds of photos signed by baseball athletes

At lunch, Pepe's family went to Bernie's favorite restaurant.

One day later, Pepe woke up, kissed his father's photo, looking at the calendar and sighed in relief.

"My father will be very miserable if I think about what I do. I want him to be happy and restful," she said.
