Two sources in the network security industry indicate that malware used in the attack is ransomware.

Colonial issued a statement that they had closed the entire system to prevent threats after learning about the network attack on May 7.

The company does not say how long the pipeline will be closed.

"If network security measures are not included in the technology development phase of companies, we can see more frequent attacks on industrial systems such as oil and gas pipelines

Colonial has closed gasoline production lines and distillation in Harvey Harvey in 2017. This contributed to the supply of tightening and gasoline prices rising in the US after the storm forced many refineries to close the door.
