A hospital in Java announces 63 people died of the lack of oxygen, causing the Indonesian government to prioritize oxygen production to the health sector.

Sardjito Hospital on Indonesia's Java island announced 63 patients died after the oxygen source here was almost exhausted from July 3 to July 4.

The hospital said it had been looking for more oxygen sources during many days before the incident, but the number of Covid-19 patients poured continuously caused overloading the capacity of treatment and as the amount of oxygen reserves consumed faster than expected.

The Indonesian government must then ask the oxygen industry to enhance medical oxygen production, to meet the requirements of about 800 tons per day.
