Hong Kong police accused the editor-in-chief and the Apple Daily council colleated with foreign forces under the Chinese National Security Law.

About 500 Hong Kong police raided the Apple Daily's editorial on June 17 after arresting five newspapers, due to suspicion of dozens of their articles violating security laws.

Hong Kong Police on June 18 announced the two in 5 people arrested.

The remaining three including CEO Royston Chow Tat-Kuen, Vice Chief Editor-in Chan Pui-Man and Cheung Chi-Wai's editor in charge of being investigated.

The police say will prosecute three companies related to Apple Daily with collusion of foreign forces.

Hong Kong Police previously led more than 30 Apple Daily articles to alleged that the leaders of this newspaper plotted with foreign forces under the New National Security Law.

Some Western countries and human rights groups and International Press Association criticize the leadership of Apple Daily in Hong Kong.

Apple Daily on June 18 issued 500,000 publications, up more than 6 times compared to 80,000 copies a day earlier.

Apple Daily is established by Jimmy Lai media from June 1995, including Chinese paper in Chinese and English networks.

Hong Kong Police in August 2020 arrested Jimmy Lai, founder of Next Digital Media Company, and 9 others because of suspicion of fraud or violation of the National Security Law.

Jimmy Lai on April 16 was declared for 14 months in prison for the organization of unauthorized gathering and added 14 months in the trial on May 28.
