After the national flag was pulled up to mark the National Day at a hill in the middle of the forest, workers at Dong Thanh Site shouted to develop Nusantara, the name of the future capital, meaning the archipelago.

The Flag Ceremony celebrates the Indonesian National Day at the Future Capital Construction Site in Dong Kalimantan Province on August 17.

The Indonesian National Assembly in January approved the law to move the capital from Jakarta to the new city called Nusantara in Dong Kalimantan province.

Nusantara, 2,000 km from Jakarta, will become a new political center of the world's fourth largest country.

The plan to move the capital from Jakarta, 10 million superior people often faces serious traffic congestion, floods and air pollution, has been launched by many Indonesian presidents, but has never been as far as it has been as far as it has been.

Jakarta is sinking up to 25 cm per year in some areas, double the average of large coastal cities globally.

The Indonesian government is preparing to promote infrastructure projects for the new capital, with an area of about 56,180 hectares on Borneo Island, at the time Mr. Widodo left his office in 2024.

Government officials said the new capital will take decades to complete and will be the home of two million people, helping to promote economic growth for the region.

The supporters affirmed that the US $ 32 billion moved to the capital was necessary because Jakarta was overloaded, but the opposition said it was too expensive and risky.
