Information was given only a few days after US Deputy Foreign Minister Wendy Sherman met Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, in which the US official expressed serious concerns about military presence and the process of building central works

Prime Minister Hun Sen then agreed to the US Embassy in Cambodia to organize periodic visits to REAM base.

In the report announced on May 21 and updated a week later, the Asian Maritime Transparency Initiative (AMTI) belonged to the Strategic and International Research Center (CSIS) to detect two buildings built

However, Cambodian officials last year flattened the building to get a place to build two new buildings, raising Chinese concerns that could benefit from REAM naval base upgrades.

Cambodian Defense Minister Tea Banh on June 2 said Cambodia asked China's help.
