Thunberg alone held a banner before the Swedish parliament in August 2018 to call on the government to take action for the environment.

Instead of completing his senior years at school, Thunberg crossed the Atlantic by sailing to convey a message about cutting carbon emissions.

Thunberg traveled to New York to speak at the United Nations Climate Action Conference on September 23.

Thunberg caught the attention of the media and inspired students in more than 100 cities around the world to organize environmental activities.
