New Delhi police arrested journalist Sharma on charges of transferring sensitive information, including border issues, to Chinese intelligence for money.

India's capital New Delhi police today released a statement saying freedom journalist Rajeev Sharma, 61, was started this week and that they had confiscated several classified documents related to the Indian Defense Ministry at

"When questioned, Rajeev Sharma revealed he was involved in purchasing confidential, sensitive information and continued to pass this information on to his tenant in China," New Delhi deputy police commissioner Sanjeev Kumar.

According to the police, Sharma has been tasked with providing information on the India-China border issue and other issues in recent years.

A Chinese woman Qing Shi and her Nepali counterpart, Sher Singh, were also arrested for allegedly providing Sharma with "large sums of money" to "pass information to Chinese intelligence".

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the incident.

The Sharma arrest comes amid heightened tensions between India and China over the disputed border area, especially following the June clash. India says 20 of its soldiers were killed in the incident.
