The decision was made after a girl died at a hospital in the city of Palermo, capital of Sicily island.

Previously, the victim was found by a 5-year-old sister in a cyanosis next to a cell phone video recording in the bathroom on January 20.

However, she wrapped the belt around her neck and was accidentally choked up, causing her to suffocate.

Experts once warned the "Unconsciousness Challenge" is very dangerous, can cause fainting, brain damage and seizures, even death.

Owned by China's ByteDance, TikTok quickly gained popularity worldwide, especially among teenagers.

"Privacy and safety are TikTok's absolute priority and we are constantly working to strengthen policies, processes and technologies to protect communities and young users," the spokesperson said.
