Two days later, Zhai had a heart attack and was hospitalized for more than a month.

In a widely shared and social media complaint, Shang described how Zhang kicked her husband out of the high-ranking official cafeteria.

"Who do you think you are? Who let you in?", Zhang asked as Zhai tried to explain his presence.

According to Shang, after her husband was hospitalized, Mr. Zhang not only did not care but continued to criticize Zhai for "disobeying".

"As Zhai Weidong's wife, I feel deep pain and hurt," Shang wrote in the complaint.

Shang has not yet commented after Zhang was fired.

Gu Su, a political scientist at Nanjing University in eastern China, said that Zhang may have aversion to his subordinates, "but slapping a person is wrong and certainly not disciplined.

Chinese social media platforms have been flooded with comments since Shang's complaint went public.

Xinhua also responded to comments, saying that the widespread attention shows how much public opposition to the leadership's arrogance and rude behavior.

The above case is similar to the scandal 7 years ago, when then-party secretary of Chongqing, Bo Xilai slapped police chief Wang Lijun during a fierce controversy.

In a trial, Bo Xilai slapped Wang Lap Quan for doubting his loyalty.
