Obrador's announcement came a day after Mexico was assessed as the world's fifth deadly epidemic, with more than 30,600 deaths, surpassing France and Spain, two countries recording more than 29,000 and 28,000 respectively.

The Mexican president has criticized news outlets for highlighting comparisons on the number of deaths caused by nCoV.

Late May, Health Deputy Hugo Lopez Gatell, Mexico's anti-Covid-19 campaign, warned that if no preventive measures were taken, the number of deaths due to nCoV in the country could rise to around 30,000.

In Mexico City, the nation's largest epidemic with more than 51,600 cases of nCoV and more than 5,700 deaths, the city government has begun to reopen part of the economy earlier this month.

Covid-19 has appeared in more than 210 countries and territories, causing more than 11.5 million people infected, more than 536,000 deaths and more than 6.5 million people recover.
