Hillary Clinton recommended the US to choose the president by popular vote, as she voted for Joe Biden as a New York electorate.

"I believe we should abolish the electoral college and choose the president as the winner of the popular vote, like any other title. However, as long as this system exists, I am proud to drop the leaves.

The Clintons are two of 29 New York electors in this year's presidential election.

Clinton in September 2017 called for the abolition of the electoral college and campaigned on the selection of the president based on the popular vote.

Earlier, in 2000, Clinton also called for an end to the Electoral College when former Vice President Al Gore won a majority of the popular vote but lost due to the electoral votes.

"I strongly believe that in a democracy we should respect the will of the people and for me that means it is time for us to eliminate the electoral college and move to the popular election.

Under the US constitution, Americans "authorize" 538 electors to vote for the president and vice president according to the results of the state popular vote.

The Electoral College on December 14 (December 15, Hanoi) has completed the voting process, with 306 votes for Joe Biden and 232 votes for Donald Trump.

In this year's presidential election, Biden not only won the electoral votes, but also won a gap of about 7 million votes in the popular vote.
