The US, the largest epidemic region in the world, recorded 3,214,840 cases while 135,681 people died, an increase of 66,364 and 946 cases in the past 24 hours, respectively.

US President Donald Trump on July 9 tweeted that the case in the United States was high because the test rate was higher than in any other country with 40 million people tested.

In contrast, White House health adviser Anthony Fauci warned the US was still in the first Covid-19 wave and had to take immediate action to prevent the new case from rising.

New York remains the state with the largest case record with more than 425,000 cases, California reported more than 302,000 cases, while the case in Texas, Florida has exceeded 230,000.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo on July 8 refused to follow Trump's urge to reopen his school, emphasizing that "this is a state matter, the President has no authority."

Brazil, the second largest epidemic region in the world, reported an additional 39,583 cases and 1,129 deaths, bringing the total to 1,755,779 and 69,184, respectively.

Although the epidemic has not shown signs of improvement, the major cities have reopened.

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro announced on July 7 that he had been positive for nCoV.
